The figure contains two cloud servers.

The first cloud server receives low load requests. At low load, the site owner pays cloud provider dollar dollar for provision of two virtual servers.

The second cloud server receives high load requests. As the load increases, the site owner pays cloud provider dollar dollar dollar dollar dollar dollar for the elastic provision of addition virtual servers.

Behind the scenes, the cloud provider has real physical servers which use virtualization technology that enables each physical server to host multiple virtual servers within it.
