This illustration uses the same image of the three networks as in the previous figure. However, dashed lines are used to illustrate the two different types of connections. A key explains that the lines comprised of long dashes represent eBGP, while the lines comprised of short dashes represent iBGP.
In the first network, which includes four routers identified as 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d, a line of short dashes connects router 1a to 1b, 1b to 1c, 1c to 1d, and 1d to 1a. A line of short dashes also connects 1a to 1c and 1b to 1d.
A line of long dashes connects router 1c to 2a, and 2c to 3a.
