*I am tempted, but hesitant, to use the word skill in this case. We all already have the ability to make a next-action decision. We do it all the time, thousands of times a day, but mostly unconsciously. Yet making that decision before we have to about things we’re committed to move on is a powerful and elegant cognitive behavior pattern that can be learned, practiced, and integrated. It is a core element of “knowledge-work athletics.” And most people don’t do it in that manner, about even the most important things in their lives.
